L-3 Communications announced today that its Westwood Corporation business unit has received orders from the U.S. Army CECOM Acquisition Center totaling $12 million for Tactical Quiet Generators. These orders are an add-on to an existing Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract raising the total amount of orders placed to date to $39.6 million.
In consideration of current forward deployments of U.S. military assets worldwide, it is anticipated that this contract, which is valid through fiscal year 2007, will grow to approximately $80 million.
L-3 Communications Westwood Corporation has been in continuous production on the 30/60 kilowatt Tactical Quiet Generators since 1999, fielding over 3,700 units while completing a previous contract and performing ahead of the contractual requirements on the existing production.
This equipment plays a major role in supplying mobile power to the Armed Services in support of weapon systems, missile systems and earth satellite terminals, as well as hotel power required for U.S. Air Force Bare Base needs when electric power from conventional sources is unavailable.
