California's record-breaking heat wave claimed a movie star victim when Lindsay Lohan was forced to check into a hospital after becoming dehydrated on the set of her newest film, a celebrity website said Wednesday.

Lohan, 20, "got overheated and dehydrated" Tuesday while on the set of "Georgia Rule" and had to be taken to a hospital for treatment, her agent Leslie Sloane-Zelnick told TMZ.com.

The movie was being filmed in temperatures around 40 degrees C (104 degrees F).

Sloane-Zelnick said Lohan, who climbed to fame in 1998's "The Parent Trap" remake and earned rave reviews for "Freaky Friday" in 2003, was "totally fine" Wednesday after receiving an injection at the hospital and resting.

TMZ reported that she had been seen out "living it up" Tuesday night with her boyfriend Harry Morton.

The state emergency services said Wednesday that possibly more than 70 people had died as a result of the extreme heat around the state for the past two weeks.
