Three people died and six were hurt when a sudden storm hit a beach in the southern Montenegrin coastal town of Ulcinj, police said Saturday.
Three men drowned on Friday in "huge waves" during a sudden storm at Velika plaza, a 12-kilometer (seven mile) long sandy beach at Ulcinj, one of the biggest tourist centres on the Montenegrin stretch of the Adriatic sea, police said.
The identity of the victims was not revealed, but they were reported to be on holiday in Montenegro and to come from neighbouring Serbia, Macedonia and the UN-run Serbian province of Kosovo, police said.
Six more people were hurt but rescued by special police teams, they added.
Strong winds and heavy rain, with the temperature dropping from 32 degrees Celsius (89 degrees Fahrenheit) to 22 C (71 F) in less then an hour on Friday, caught tourists packing beaches throughout Montenegro unawares..
