Four Israeli soldiers were killed Thursday in clashes with Hezbollah fighters in south Lebanon, the military said.

Two soldiers were killed by an anti-tank rocket west of the village of Aita ash-Shaab, an Israeli army spokeswoman told AFP. A third died later of his wounds.

The fourth was killed in clashes with Hezbollah fighters in Taibeh, in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon where fighting is still underway.

The Israeli army said 15 Hezbollah fighters were killed in the clashes.

Six Lebanese, including two Hezbollah guerrillas, were taken prisoner, an Israeli commander said.

Forty-one Israeli soldiers have been killed in clashes with the Shiite militant group since the Jewish state launched its offensive in Lebanon on July 12.
