A Dutch national and two Irish tourists were killed in a traffic accident Tuesday on the outskirts of Beijing while on their way to the Great Wall, the Beijing government said.
The accident occurred in the capital's Shunyi district when a minibus with seven foreign tourists on board collided with a truck, the Beijing Municipal government said in a statement.
Concrete pipes fell off the truck onto the roof of the van and the three were killed on the spot, the statement said. The crash left another Dutch tourist slightly injured.
The minibus was taking the tourists to the popular Simatai section of the Great Wall, it said.
Xinhua news agency said the victims were a Dutch man, an Irish man and an Irish woman, without giving their ages.
China's roads are among the most dangerous in the world with more than 100,000 deaths a year, or an average of around 270 people killed every day.
