An earthquake off Russia's far eastern Kamchatka peninsula Sunday triggered a tidal wave that battered the coast but caused no casualties, the emergency situations ministry said.
A quake measuring 4.4 on the open-ended Richter scale was recorded off the east coast of Kamchatka in the early morning, and two hours later coastguards noted a large wave heading for land.
The two-meter-high (6.6-foot) wave flooded the Oust-Kamchamsk region but did not cause significant material damage, the ministry said.
