Six hundred passengers were evacuated from an evening rush hour London Underground train near Heathrow Airport on Thursday after it hit a landslide, police said.
The train, which was on tracks above ground, had just left the suburban Boston Manor station, six stops from Heathrow, when it "made contact" with several tonnes of earth, forcing it to make an emergency stop at about 6:20 pm (1720 GMT).
Police said no passengers were injured, and Transport for London (TfL), the authority that maintains the capital's public transport network, said the Picadilly Line train was not derailed.
"Initial indications are that three to four tonnes of debris has ended up on the track," a TfL spokeswoman said.
"600 passengers were successfully detrained within 15 minutes to the platform at Boston Manor."
