British satellite multiplexer manufacturer, Vocality International Ltd, has launched the V50 Ultra Portable Multiplexer.
When deploying portable satellite communications terminals into the field, size and weight of equipment is of prime importance. Users now demand much smaller form factors that the traditional 19" rackmount.
Taking this demand to the extreme, Vocality International have launched a completely new, highly compact multiplexer with inbuilt IP router and ISDN Terminal Adapter, which is compatible with the existing thousands of Vocality multiplexers already in the field.
The V50 Ultra Portable Multiplexer, which measures only 250mm x 120mm x 51mm (less than 10 inches x 5 inches x 2 inches) is ideal for use alongside Inmarsat GAN terminals and tactical military field deployable satellite terminals.
This new product incorporates features key to the Inmarsat and military mobile satcom markets:
– Four or eight compressed voice circuits
– Support for STU IIB and STU III secure voice
– Satellite accelerated IP bridge/router
– Serial data
– ISDN connectivity (for Inmarsat GAN use)
Group Technical Director, Martin Saunders says "The V50 will give users amazing functionality for such a small size, making light work of field deployments that up to now needed a support team. It carries all the benefits of our experience in developing sophisticated communications products and makes mobile comms so simple."
