UTC Aerospace Systems is set to begin delivering new wheels and brakes for 475 F-15s in August, the company said Monday.
New carbon brakes will provide four times' longer life than the current iteration, via the use of proprietary DURACARB carbon heat sink material, UTC said in a statement.
The bolt-less wheels employ a lock-ring design, requiring fewer parts and lowering maintenance time and cost compared to traditional bolted aircraft wheels, the company said.
The new equipment will be offered for use on the F-15C/D aircraft, with a different version for the heavier F-15E.
The F-15 Eagle is an all-weather, extremely maneuverable, tactical fighter.
