The US military has canceled a second exercise with Russia later this month and will re-examine its ties with Moscow in the wake of the Georgia conflict, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday.
"We have canceled our participation in a multi-national naval exercise with Russia that was due to begin tomorrow," Gates told a press briefing at the Pentagon.
"We've also canceled a US-Canadian-Russian exercise, Vigilant Eagle, that was to have begun August 20th," he said.
"In the days and weeks ahead, the Department of Defense will re-examine the entire gamut of our military-to-military activities with Russia and will make changes as necessary and appropriate, depending on Russian actions in the days ahead."
