The Swedish Space Corporation is the first space company in the world to receive a long-term Radio Frequency S-band license for Galileo. The license was applied on behalf of ESA and granted by the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency and will last until 2037.
"The fast acquisition of the long term Galileo RF license reflects the position of SSC as a fast and reliable partner in the Galileo mission", says a senior ESA representative of the Galileo Project.
Earlier this year SSC announced that their satellite station at Esrange Space Center near Kiruna had been chosen as the first Galileo TT and C station. The Esrange satellite station is also part of a global network of satellite ground stations called PrioraNet. A part of this network has been used to provide LEOP support for the Galileo test satellite GIOVE-A, and will be used for the same matter for GIOVE-B, as well as for the four Galileo IOV satellites.
"For us the key to Galileo is our long-term commitment and we appreciate that things are taking shape," says Mr. Lars Alm, Market Manager at SSC.
