For the first time, the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia have become the venue for a convention of students from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Ordzhonikidze Moscow Aviation Institute, Tsiolkovsky Moscow Aviation Technology Institute, Moscow State Technical University Stankin and Moscow State Forestry Engineering University.
The meeting was held within the framework of events marking the 100th anniversary of the farther of the applied space science, the founder and the first head of the company Sergei Korolev. Participating in the convention were heads and teachers of institutes of higher learning, managers and leading experts of RSC Energia, cosmonauts-testers of the Corporation's flight corps.
Speaking at the meeting, the President and General Designer of RSC Energia N.N. Sevastiyanov presented the major areas of the company's activities at the present stage and the prospects for the their future development for the period of up to 2030.
The deputies of the Corporation's General Designer who are responsible for specific areas of activities supplemented his presentation with detailed accounts of the tasks to be addressed by the Corporation. The future young specialists have an opportunity to become participants in the implementation of new projects for manned space systems, unmanned spacecraft and rocket systems.
These include the development of an advanced manned reusable system Clipper, Moon and Mars exploration programs and many other projects. S.P. Korolev's associate, scientific consultant for the Corporation, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences B.Ye. Chertok shared with the students his recollections about his work with the Chief Designer of the rocket and space systems.
The participants in the convention visited the assembly and testing center of the Experimental Machine-Building Plant of RSC Energia, which is the place where the final assembly and integrated factory tests are conducted on Soyuz TMA and Progress M/M1 spacecraft, upper stages Block DM, and other rocket and space hardware.
The future young specialists and their teachers made a tour of the company's museum and of the Mission Control Center, and met with members of the S.P. Korolev RSC Energia cosmonaut corps.
Reviewing the results of the meeting, the heads of the corporation and of the institutes of higher learning arrived at the conclusion that the students convention at RSC Energia must become an annual event.
