MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. has signed an agreement with RRsat America – Global Communications Network Inc. ("RRsat") a subsidiary of RRsat Global Communications Network Ltd. for capacity on the soon to be launched AFRICASAT-1a satellite.
Under the terms of the agreement, RRsat has secured C-band capacity for a new MCPC platform on AFRICASAT-1a for video distribution services across Africa and the Middle East.
RRsat is a leading provider of production, content management and end-to-end transmission services to more than 630 TV, radio and data channels using its integrated worldwide satellite, fiber and internet communications network. Through its six (6) teleports and over 20 partner teleports, RRsat provides uplink, downlink and turnaround services.

The AFRICASAT-1a satellite, with coverage over Africa, Europe, Middle East and South East Asia, is planned for launch early 2013 to the 46.0 degrees E orbital slot. The satellite will replace AFRICASAT-1 which has been providing coverage to the regions since 2008.
