Photon Energy Australia has installed and commissioned a 99 kW solar power plant in Sydney's Macquarie Park. The rooftop power plant was installed during a general renovation of the building, contributing to increasing the NABERS and Green Star ratings while making use of the STC support scheme.
"When buildings are renovated or newly built, it is an ideal time to integrate solar power, smart demand management and energy storage. This allows for optimum outcomes that deliver higher value and significant energy cost savings", says Managing Director Michael Gartner.
The engineers were tasked with achieving a high energy output target while leaving rooftop space for other uses, such as storage. As a result, the solar power plant is mounted onto raised steel structures, giving the possibility to walk under the structure and allowing for the use of space underneath the solar arrays for other purposes.
"We have developed a standardised cost effective, high-quality and CEC compliant solar power package incorporating tier one solar technology combined with Photon Energy's leading protection, monitoring and PLC controls that are integrated into the building management system", says Michael Gartner.
Photon Energy continues to expand in the larger end of the commercial solar market with its experience, in-house design and engineering capabilities that add significant value.
The company will shortly commence building a 347 kW roof mounted power plant in Canberra which will also be implemented as part of a complex building renovation project. The power plant is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2015.
