North Korea has issued a stamp commemorating the "successful" launch of a communications satellite into space earlier this year, state media said Wednesday.

The stamp marks the "successful launch of artificial satellite Kwangmyongsong No. 2" on April 5, the North's official Korean Central News Agency.

The souvenier stamp carries the words "Launch of Artificial Satellite 'Kwangmyongsong No. 2' in the DPRK" in Korean and English with a picture showing the launch of a carrier rocket, KCNA said.

However, Washington, Tokyo and Seoul said the launch was really a test of an intercontinental ballistic missile. US and South Korean officials reject the North's claim that the satellite was put into orbit.
