Leveraging its global satellite fleet to meet growing demand for connectivity everywhere, SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES has announced at the CommunicAsia conference that IoGlobal has signed a multiyear agreement to create a new DVB IP platform on the NSS-11 satellite to keep NATO troops in Afghanistan connected with friends and family back home.
IoGlobal's new Asia 9 platform on the China beam of SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES' NSS-11 satellite provides more than 70 Mbps of satellite-delivered streaming voice, data and video services to soldiers stationed in and around Kabul, Afghanistan.
The solution expands on the growing, long-term relationship between IoGlobal and SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES across three satellites and delivers a broad offering of mission-critical satellite-based services ranging from broadband to video streaming into the South Asian region.

KT Taps NSS-703 and NSS-12 Satellites Of SES AMERICOM NEW SKIES
SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES has announced at Communic-Asia in Singapore that Korea Telecom Corporation (KT) has signed a three-year capacity agreement for the use of up to 9 MHz of C-band capacity on the NSS-703 and NSS-12 satellites.
NSS-703 orbits at 57 degrees East while NSS-12 is scheduled to be launched into this orbital position in the third quarter of 2009. KT Corporation, Korea's incumbent telecom operator, has deployed a dedicated 32 meter uplink antenna to access the new SES AMERICOM NEW SKIES satellite at its Earth Station in Boeun, Korea.
Mr. Chang, Sang Ku, Director of KT Corporation, said: "The coverage and power of the NSS satellites provide us with an excellent opportunity to help our Korean customers to connect to their operations in Africa and the Middle East through one single satellite hop."

CS Link Increases ASTRA Capacity For HD And SD Services
SES ASTRA has announced that the Czech Pay-TV platform CS Link has increased its satellite capacity at ASTRA's prime orbital position 23.5 degrees East by one additional transponder.
The new capacity will be used to broadcast an enhanced programme package in both HD and SD formats. CS Link currently broadcasts 32 digital TV channels and 13 radio programmes in the Czech Republic, reaching 350,000 customers1. With this new agreement, CS Link will use four transponders on the ASTRA satellite system.
SES ASTRA is successfully developing its 23.5 degrees East orbital position into a new location for Direct-to-Home (DTH) broadcasting. From that position ASTRA 3A, ASTRA 1E and ASTRA 1G currently serve Central Europe, the Benelux countries and German cable networks and offer the high-speed broadband service ASTRA2Connect.
By using a simple technical device, the Duo LNB (low noise block converter), satellite households can significantly increase their choice of international free-to-air channels, and receive signals from two ASTRA positions, 19.2 degrees East and 23.5 degrees East simultaneously via one dish.
