Integrasys performed a demonstration of the Satmotion Pocket low cost vsat line-up system, in collaboration with the European Space Agency, during the SatLabs Group meeting that took place on November 15th to 17th in ESA ESTEC site, Noorwijk, The Netherlands.
The demonstration consisted of the complete configuration and alignment of a two-way broadbamd satellite terminal pointing to Hispasat 30¿ W with the only help of a compass and a Satmotion Pocket PDA tool, without requiring on-site instrumentation nor terrestrial communication support.
SatLabs Group members followed the pointing and line-up procedures at the terminal antenna site, where one single installer achieved easily, quickly, and accurately the complete setup.
In only five minutes, the installer carried out indoor unit configuration, forward link acquisition, return link eirp and cross polarisation adjustment and, finally, installation validation using Satmotion Pocket on a wireless PDA, without coordination with Hispasat Network Operation Center staff.
Satmotion Pocket is currently being used by Hispasat to guide installers in pointing and aligning vsat,s providing broadband data services to South and North America, Europe and Middle-East from 30¿ and 61¿ W orbital positions.
