Globecomm Systems Inc. has announced that the Company is one of six contractors selected to participate in the U.S. Army's $5 Billion Worldwide Satellite Systems Program (WWSS) for the next five years. The Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems and Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Program jointly manage the WWSS.
Under the five year $5 billion program, WWSS will bring Government agencies turnkey commercial satellite systems and associated support services for satellite terminals, including all hardware, software, services and data to operate terminals.
Besides Globecomm, five other contractors including The Boeing Company, General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, DSCI, Telecommunication Systems and Data Path, were each awarded an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Contract. As requirements for particular satellite terminals and services arise, the contractors will compete for the individual task orders to be issued under the IDIQ contracts.
