Two fighter jets were scrambled in Israel's southern Negev desert on Monday to head off a hang-glider who swept towards the Jewish state's nuclear reactor at Dimona, military sources said.
The glider, a resident of a southern Israeli town, was guided to a safe landing and questioned by police officers.
Security around Israel's controversial nuclear reactor, which has been operating for the past 40 years, is tight and overflights are forbidden.
The Jewish state has never publicly acknowledged that it maintains a nuclear arsenal but foreign experts say it has used its reactor at Dimona to produce between 100 and 200 nuclear warheads.
