Captured Ivorian leader Laurent Gbagbo on Monday called for an end to fighting pitting his forces against his rival President Alassane Ouattara and "to enter the civilian part of the crisis."

"I want us to lay down arms and to enter the civilian part of the crisis, which should be completed rapidly for life in the country to resume," Gbagbo said on Ouattara's TCI channel shortly after his arrest.
