Comtech Telecommunications announced Monday that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., was awarded $1.9 million in orders for satellite communications equipment.
The equipment will be deployed by an unnamed U.S. government customer to expand its satellite-based network infrastructure.
The order encompasses the SLM-7650 Satellite Modem, the SLM-5650 High-Speed Satellite Modem and Redundancy Switches. The SLM-5650 is compliant with Defense Satellite Communications System requirements defined in Military Standard 188-165A.
The modem is suited for many government and military applications, the company said in a statement. The redundancy switches provide fully automatic or manual protection of circuits in case of equipment failure or undesirable traffic conditions.
Comtech manufactures a wide spectrum of satellite communications products, including satellite modems, TCP/IP performance enhancement proxies, converters, amplifiers, transceivers and terminals. All products meet or exceed the standards published by Intelsat, Eutelsat, Insat, AsiaSat and other worldwide and regional satellite networks.
