Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed al-Nahyan on Wednesday discussed the creation of a free trade zone between China and the Gulf States, the official WAM news agency announced.
The talks here centred on "negotiations aimed at creating a free-trade zone between the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council and China," according to the report.
The GCC groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The scheme would cut import tariffs, simplify customs procedures and allow for mutual investments.
