Logistics and acquisition support services will continue to be provided for the U.S. Navy's littoral combat ships program by CACI International Inc.
The bridge contract is for a base period of performance of eight months, with two options of three months each. It carries a value of $44 million if the options are exercised.
"With our ongoing support of the littoral combat ship program, CACI continues to assist the Naval Sea Systems Command move into the future with this new class of ships," said John Mengucci, CACI's chief operating officer and president of U.S. Operations. "Large ship programs entail many complex challenges in the areas of logistics, operations, and sustainment, and we have the acquisition, logistics, and operational expertise to help the customer continue attaining all program objectives."
U.S. Navy littoral combat ships are designed for close-to-shore operations. They come in two variants — including a trimaran — and with mission modules for anti-mine, anti-submarine, surface warfare and other operations.
Under the contract, CACI's services will include project planning, technical analysis, and business and financial management. The services will be provided to the Navy's Office Littoral Combat Ship, which is responsible for acquiring and maintaining the end-to-end mission capabilities of the vessels.
