The Future of Clean Coal And Carbon Sequestration

London - Jul 23, 2007 - Research and Markets has announced the addition of 'The Future of Clean Coal: The Impact of New Technologies and Legislation on the Economics of Coal-Fired Power Generation' to their offering. Coal accounts for 40% of global electricity supply and the proportion is set to remain steady, even as global generating capacity rises. Coal-fired generating capacity may double by 2030, which would have a severe effect on carbon dioxide emissions unless new, cleaner technologies can be implemented.

US And Russia Facing Energy Crises

Moscow (UPI) Jul 20, 2007 - New Yorkers still remember the night of terror provoked by a blackout on a hot summer's night in 1977, when stores were ransacked, looted and destroyed, buildings were set ablaze, and the police, for the most part, stood helpless. In the 30 years since then, electricity experts have not found a foolproof way of developing electricity systems that would rule out a repetition of such disasters. The same goes for Russia.

New Particle Explains Odd Behavior In Cuprate Superconductors

Champaign IL (SPX) Jul 18, 2007 - New fundamental particles aren't found only at Fermilab and at other particle accelerators. They also can be found hiding in plain pieces of ceramic, scientists at the University of Illinois report. The newly formulated particle is a boson and has a charge of 2e, but does not consist of two electrons, the scientists say. The particle arises from the strong, repulsive interactions between electrons, and provides another piece of the high-temperature superconductivity puzzle.
