Replacing a portion of the natural gas at POET Biorefining - Chancellor's with methane from the landfill will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs for the ethanol plant while generating revenue for the landfill.

Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees, But Gasoline Might

Amherst MA (SPX) Apr 15, 2008 - Researchers have made a breakthrough in the development of green gasoline, a liquid identical to standard gasoline yet created from sustainable biomass sources like switchgrass and poplar trees. Reporting in the cover article of the April 7, 2008 issue of Chemistry and Sustainability, Energy and Materials (ChemSusChem), chemical engineer and National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER awardee George Huber of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (UMass) and his graduate students Torren Carlson and Tushar Vispute announced the first direct conversion of plant cellulose into gasoline components.

Verenium Announces Start-Up Of Its Demonstration-Scale Cellulosic Ethanol Plant

Dynamotive Contracts Biomass For First Two Projects In Argentina

Buenos Aires, Argentina (SPX) Apr 14, 2008 - Dynamotive Energy Systems and its subsidiary Dynamotive Latinoamericana S.A., are pleased to announce the execution of contracts for the provision of biomass for two of its proposed plants in the Province of Corrientes in Argentina. The Company further disclosed that it has identified, and has been offered, a site for the project within the Municipality of Virasoro. Negotiations in regard to the site are progressing and are expected to be completed in the near term.
