Santa Clara Becomes Second Largest Green Power Community In USA

Santa Clara CA (SPX) May 02, 2008 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named the City of Santa Clara a Green Power Community, making the City only one of 14 communities to receive such an honor. Santa Clara ranks as the second largest Green Power Community, both in terms of population and size of its green power commitment-57 million kilowatt-hours annually. Together, the 14 communities are protecting the environment by purchasing nearly 300 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually.

Beacon Power To Provide Flywheel System To Support Wind Power Integration Project In California

Tyngsboro MA (SPX) May 01, 2008 - Beacon Power has announced that it has been awarded a subcontract to provide a flywheel energy storage system in support of a wind integration R and D project sponsored by the California Energy Commission. Beacon will receive approximately $250,000 to offset R and D expenses and will contribute an additional $90,000 of engineering resources for the project, bringing the R and D total to approximately $340,000.

GE Energy Announces State Of The Art Technology Center In Saudi Arabia

Dammam, Saudi Arabia (SPX) Apr 30, 2008 - GE Energy has announced the groundbreaking of its Power Technology Center, Middle East, a new state-of-the-art service facility in Dammam, developed in association with GE's joint venture partner Ali A. Tamimi Co. With an investment of SAR280 million ($75 million USD), the center will span 125,000 square feet and expand GE Energy's capabilities to serve its customers in the region.
