Exploration Of Hybrid Offshore Wind-Hydrokinetic Power Projects

Houston TX (SPX) Aug 07, 2008 - Hydro Green Energy and the Wind Energy Systems Technology Group (W.E.S.T.) have agreed to explore the potential to develop the world's first hybrid offshore wind-hydrokinetic ocean current power projects. If fully developed as envisioned, Hydro Green Energy and W.E.S.T. will utilize the Gulf of Mexico's wind and water currents to generate nearly 5,000 megawatts of clean, renewable electricity.

Washington (UPI) Aug 6, 2008 - Following the implosion of the Soviet Union in 1991, a new Great Game began, this time between Russia and the United States, which replaced Britain in a protracted, covert struggle for the Caucasus and Central Asia, the ultimate prize being the region's vast energy reserves, particularly those of the Caspian. A decade ago Vice President Dick Cheney, then Halliburton CEO, remarked, I can't think of a time when we've had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian.

Dry Lake Wind Project Assessment Continues

Safford AZ (SPX) Aug 06, 2008 - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Safford Field Office is continuing to assess the Dry Lake Wind Project in Navajo County. The BLM issued its Environmental Assessment (EA) and unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on February 12 and was available for public review through March 28. Many public comments on the 200-page EA were submitted, all of which required careful review and consideration.
