Siemens USDA ARS Second Gen Biofuel Feedstocks Pilot Plant

Atlanta GA (SPX) Oct 22, 2008 - Siemens Energy and Automation and the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) have entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) that will improve the processes used to convert second generation, non-food-based, biofuel feedstocks, including perennial grasses, animal wastes and agricultural residues such as corn stover, into liquid bio-fuel intermediates, such as bio-oil.

The Pursuit Of Swine Waste-To-Energy Projects

Raleigh NC (SPX) Oct 21, 2008 - Progress Energy Carolinas and GreenCo Solutions have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly pursue new alternative energy projects designed to turn swine waste into electricity. The two companies will work together to identify and support swine waste-to-energy projects in Eastern North Carolina to serve the utility's customers and those of the state's electric cooperatives.
