Russia Demands Compromises On Halted Shell Project

Moscow (AFP) Sept 19, 2006 - A top Russian official demanded compromises Tuesday from a Shell-led group operating the world's largest private oil and gas project, a day after the state abruptly forced the group to stop work. Compromises must be sought on Sakhalin-2, Economic and Trade Minister German Gref said, quoted by RIA Novosti news agency, referring to a 20-billion-dollar (15.8-billion-euro) oil and gas project off Russia's Pacific Coast.
