An $11 million U.S. Air Force contract has been given to Engility Holdings Inc. for operational and technical support of remotely piloted aircraft systems.
The support services will be provided for RQ-170 Sentinel Aircraft to the Air Force Air Combat Command, 432nd Wing, at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to serve the U.S. Air Force and our nation by supporting the Sentinel mission," said Engility President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Smeraglinolo. "This is an outstanding win in the important ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) market space and it further expands our work and capability supporting RPA missions, platforms, and ground support systems."
Under the award, Engility will provide mission planning, network administration, information assurance, and security management support for worldwide operations, training missions and simulations for the RQ-170 Sentinel.
The Sentinel is stealth unmanned aerial vehicle produced by Lockheed Martin and is used for ISR missions. Iran, in late 2011, claimed to have captured an RQ-170 that was flying in its air space.
The contract is a firm-fixed-price award for a period of three years.
