SkyVision has expanded its global satellite presence throughout the EMEA region. SkyVision will use a platform from iDirect Technologies, which will enable it to sell satellite capacity to Virtual Network Operator (VNO) customers enabling them to deploy their own networks without assuming the upfront hardware costs, or the ongoing concerns of maintenance and security. Customers who previously had limited options for broadband connectivity are now able to select services that meet their specific requirements.
"The flexibility of the iDirect platform has opened a wide range of possibilities," said Mark Gazit, CEO SkyVision. "SkyVision is constantly looking for new solutions and applications to help our customers communicate better and more efficiently. By utilizing Virtual Networks we are able to deliver the highest quality service much more efficiently and cost effectively. This is critical to our customers who represent high end users such as oil, financial and global corporations."
The iDirect solution allows SkyVision to resell its satellite capacity to customers who can then operate their own VSAT network without the cost of buying the VSAT hub infrastructure. Each VNO leases network capacity from SkyVision. This capacity is physically isolated from the resources rented by other service providers, and can be managed in any manner the service provider sees fit, including using private IP addresses.
The VNO model allows new operators to develop niche opportunities worldwide, and provides them with state of the art network management tools, security and functionality to deliver the applications customers need, without a significant upfront investment.
"This is great news for enterprises and end users in the region who need cost effective options to deliver broadband access," said John Kealey President and CEO iDirect Technologies.
"In addition to providing new revenue opportunities for Host Network Operators such as SkyVision, VNO's allow customers to deploy their own broadband networks, enabling them to capitalize on any business opportunity they identify. The VNO combined with SkyVision's network capabilities will allow profitable deployments of new networks that would have previously been cost prohibitive."
This new high-end solution for new operators meets the challenges of the real world by allowing the customer to manage and control his remote sites, deliver end-user broadband speeds, pay only for the capacity that he uses and easily expand his capacity at a low cost in comparison to all current satellite solutions. The VNO package offers all the opportunities of the VSAT industry without assuming the risk, or the upfront investment of deploying a wholly owned and separate teleport infrastructure.
