In a continuing effort to provide the most comprehensive and cost effective satellite telephone service options to its customers, Seven Seas Communications announced today that it will be lowering its Iridium airtime rates effective immediately.

In conjunction with Iridium North America, Seven Seas has developed new pricing that are more in tune with customer need. Prices for Iridium services have been running from about $2.00 to $7.00 per minute depending upon where you are calling to and from.

A monthly access fee of $69 was also offered. Now Seven Seas Communications is offering plans with access fees as low as $19 per month and airtime ranging from $1.59 to $4.29 per minute. Also, because Iridium is particularly useful in Alaska there are also specially designed plans for users in that area.

Seven Seas Communications is a service provider for Iridium North America. "We want to do everything possible to support Iridium," says Patti Aston, director of marketing communications for Seven Seas. "We have had a great response to the product overall. However, a key issue has been the cost of service."

Seven Seas has been involved in the launch of several satellite services. According to Aston the Iridium service is doing very well. "Equipment and airtime problems are the norm for new satellite services. For a service that is only seven months old Iridium is performing remarkably well."

Seven Seas Communications is a leading provider of satellite services to the yachting, fishing, mining, construction and oil and gas industries.
