Russia will render aid to India in implementing its national lunar programme. "Details of cooperation in the lunar project will be discussed at working expert meetings of the space industries of the two countries," Tass reported Wednesday.
Rosaviakosmos company spokesman Vyacheslav Mikhailichenko, commenting on the Memorandum of mutual understanding, signed in the Kremlin on Wednesday between the Russian Space Agency and the Indian organisation of space explorations, on cooperation in investigations and use of outer space for peace.
The document presupposes joint preparations for lunar missions.
"Expert meetings will pinpoint specific Russian factories which may be awarded contracts in future," Mikhailichenko noted.
India expressed its intention to blast off an unmanned spacecraft to the moon in 2005, the Rosaviakosmos spokesman said. It is planned to land an Indian astronaut on its surface in 2015.
