Indonesian vehicle-maker PT Pindad is to build a new 6 x 6 special armored vehicle with Cockerill Maintenance & Ingenierie SA Defense of Belgium.
The Bandak will be based on an earlier company vehicle, the Anoa. It features a six-cylinder, 340 horse power diesel engine, a monocoque hull, special armor and double wishbone independent suspension technology.
Its gun turret and 90mm cannon are to be supplied by Pindad's Belgian partner.
The joint effort to build the vehicle comes under a memorandum of understanding that the companies intend to sign soon.
"Pindad is striving its best to enter a global supply chain in the defense industry through its partnership with CMI," said Tri Hardjono, the acting chief executive officer of Pindad, a state-owned company.
Mass production of the vehicle is expected to begin next year.
Additional details of the vehicle were not disclosed.
