Kiama businessman Neil Reilly has announced his candidacy today for the federal seat of Gilmore. Gilmore extends from Batemans Bar in the South, to Kiama in the North. Mr. Reilly offered his thanks to the local people of the area for their support, "The campaign is now on. We will lead from the front with positive policies that will help to put a social conscience back into the electorate"

Mr. Reilly addressed supporters in Bateman's Bay over the week end. He said "We face a dangerous government who have given us chaos and called it order, the government's lies and deceptions have undermined the faith of ordinary people and I see it as our job to put that right."

"Let's start with a biggie, just where will the liberal government put their South Coast Nuclear Reactor, Point Perpendicular, or the old liberal site of Murray's beach? At this stage they have no plans for a location for the dumping of radio active waste. That could be anywhere." He said

"It is well known that the unemployment of this area is the highest in the country, three times the national average, but this is the wrong way to create jobs."

Mr. Reilly said that a Kevin Rudd government would not build any reactors. "The fresh thinking of the Labor alternative would be to research green alternatives such as wind, solar, clean coal and other less harmful means of power generation. Kevin Rudd will offer the people a wide choice and the opportunity to participate in decision making, we would be working together to make things better."
