Radyne ComStream Inc. has entered into a strategic partnership with Direct On PC to deliver high-quality, affordable broadband Internet service via satellite to West African nations.

Direct On PC has chosen the Radyne ComStream IPSat terminal to deliver its broadband, always-on Internet over satellite service to Nigeria and other West African countries. Direct On PC customers such as cyber cafes and corporations that require VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and VPN (virtual private network) services will utilize the Radyne ComStream IPSat terminal to provide those services.

"The Radyne ComStream IPSat provides an integrated DVB/SCPC VSAT satellite terminal and an IP router in a single unit. The IPSat terminal has a proven track record in Nigeria. It provides our customers with a highly reliable, high-performance Internet connection," explained Mr. Sandeep Jayaswal, Managing Director for Direct On PC Ltd.

The Radyne ComStream IPSat terminal enables remote Internet connectivity at rates of up to 72 Mbps. The IPSat terminal is a fully embedded satellite/Internet router appliance and only requires a small dish antenna (as small as 1.2 meters) to be deployed at the remote sites.

A single IPSat terminal can support up to 100 simultaneous voice calls while providing Internet access to several hundred Pcs on its LAN interface. The IPSat unit was designed specifically to support real-time applications such as VoIP (voice over IP) and videoconferencing.

"Direct on PC has established their business on providing the highest level of customer service and support. They continue to take the right steps by choosing the IPSat terminal to provide high-reliability connections for their commercial customers," added Bob Fitting, CEO of Radyne ComStream.
