Blue Sun Biodiesel Fastest Growing Biodiesel Provider
Golden CO (SPX) Aug 22, 2008 Blue Sun Biodiesel has been ranked 242 in Inc. magazine's Inc. 500 list of fastest growing, privately-held companies and is the fastest growing biodiesel fuel company in the country. Blue Sun ranked 10th in growth for the energy industry. Colorado-based Blue Sun Biodiesel markets premium Fusion B20 biodiesel fuel backed by industry-leading quality control standards. Blue Sun sales grew 1078% over the preceding 3-year period. Blue Sun President and COO Mike Miller credits Blue Sun's success to its integrated approach and superior product offering. "As the industry evolved we were positioned to respond. Our involvement with developing new feedstock crops for biodiesel; our unsurpassed distributor support programs; and our fuel, which is superior to not only other biodiesel on the market but also to conventional diesel, have each contributed to our ongoing success." Another driver of Blue Sun Biodiesel's success is that their fuel makes compelling economic and environmental sense. Blue Sun reports that users can save 24 to 42 cents per gallon by using Fusion biodiesel as compared to diesel at $4.50 per gallon. Even as biodiesel prices have climbed somewhat above diesel, Blue Sun's biodiesel remains a preferred option for users. Fleet customers report fuel economy improvements up to 7 percent. To be eligible for the 2008 Inc. 500 list, companies had to be U.S.-based, privately held, and not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies. They must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2004 through the end of the 2007 calendar year and therefore able to show four full calendar years of sales. How significant is it to be in the Inc. 500? In past years, this distinguished group has included Microsoft, Power Bar, Papa John's and other now household names. Where Blue Sun's vehicle operating cost savings make economic sense, their emissions reductions make environmental sense. Blue Sun's biodiesel burns cleaner than traditional diesel. The use of Blue Sun Fusion B20 fuel, compared to using regular petroleum diesel, reduces carbon monoxide by 24%, hydrocarbons 29%, particulates 18% and nitrogen oxides 4%. Hydrocarbons and particulates have been shown to cause asthma, lung cancer and chronic respiratory symptoms. A life-cycle study of biodiesel, conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1998, found that pure biodiesel (B100) reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) by 78.5 percent so Fusion is doing its part to help "green" our planet as well. "We're honored to have received such prominent national recognition which could not have been achieved without the dedication and support of our staff, suppliers, Authorized Distributors and end-users," Mr. Miller indicated. Miller concluded, "At Blue Sun Biodiesel we have a tremendous opportunity to carry our growth into the future. Our government is seriously exploring and supporting alternative energy options, and people like you and me are already making changes in the way we use energy. This is just the start of a huge tide rolling in favor of energy solutions such as Blue Sun's Fusion biodiesel."
