Israeli military officials have expressed surprise at the level of equipment used by Hezbollah since the massive land, air and sea assault against Lebanon was launched on July 12. The Israeli army has suffered some of its worst losses in years at the hands of the Shiite militia, which has controlled southern Lebanon since Israel's 2000 pullout.
