Five killed in Israeli air strikes: Lebanese police

 Baalbek, Lebanon, Aug 2, 2006
Five people were killed and about 10 others injured in Israeli air strikes around this eastern Lebanese town during an overnight raid by Israeli forces, local police said Wednesday.

A police source did not specify whether civilians or Hezbollah guerrillas were killed in the attacks, which were in support of what the Israeli military said was a raid by special forces.

Israeli warplanes attacked two bridges in northern Lebanon near the Syrian border early Wednesday, hours after the expiry of a partial suspension in bombing, Lebanese police said.
